It wasn’t pretty, but goals from Liam Ferdinand and Harrison Bayley were enough to see Binfield through to the Third Round of the Reading Senior Cup at Holyport.

The Moles were 2-1 winners on the night, both goals for Roger Herridge’s side coming in the first 16 minutes but the home side pulled one back in the second through Jonny Feaver to make a game of it.

Manager Herridge posted his post match thoughts on twitter after the game saying: “Nowhere near our best tonight but cup games are all about winning. These games are never as easy as they might look on paper.

“We were great in the first 15 minutes, then the next 75 we weren’t!”

Binfield move in to the quarter finals of a competition they have twice been losing finalists in the last two seasons and will face neighbours Ascot United.
