Derby night for Binfield FC and Bracknell Town FC in Allied Counties Youth League

Tomorrow night (Thursday) sees the always eagerly anticipated local derby in the Allied Counties Youth League South Division as Binfield host Bracknell Town at Hill Farm Lane.

Matches between these two are generally hard fought with plenty of drama and tomorrow should be no exception.

In fact, I remember a few seasons ago when the Robins led 2-0 away from home but lost 3-2 before the reverse happened at Larges Lane. The Moles led 2-0 but Bracknell recovered to win 3-2 with a late Elliott Garrington free-kick beating Liam Vaughan to seal the victory.

The sides appear evenly matched with Binfield beating Windsor 6-0 and the Robins beating the same side 6-1 two weeks later.

The Hill Farm Lane side have only completed one league match (the above mentioned 6-0 win) but they were leading in another which had to be abandoned due to a serious injury to Jack Rafferty.

After two losses, Bracknell recovered to win their last two league matches and they have also won two FA Youth Cup matches so both sides will be confident of victory.

Ascot United are also in action tomorrow as they host Oxford City in the Allied Counties Youth League Premier Division.

United are currently third with City in fifth place but both sides have won two and lost one of their opening three matches and are only separated by goal difference.

For the hosts, it’s a chance for revenge as they exited the FA Youth Cup last week agonisingly losing 6-5 on penalties to Oxford.

The Yellamen recovered from 2-0 down to draw level then 3-2 down to level matters at 3-3 after ninety minutes. They then went 4-3 down in extra time but got back to 4-4 before the heartbreaking penalty defeat.

Both matches promise (on paper at least) to be crackers so get yourself along to either Hill Farm Lane or the Racecourse Ground to watch the future first team stars in action.
