The Windsor Observer is reporting that Uhlsport Hellenic Premier League side Ascot United have signed a goalkeeper to replace the departed Chris Grace.

Carl Dennison, captain last season at Combined Counties Premier League side Windsor will start the season at Ascot Racecourse after becoming ‘waffles and beans’ at Stag Meadow, the Observer website reports.

That marvellous line refers to a quote by Windsor boss Mick Woodham who said: “We can’t offer the sort of money Ascot have, we don’t offer any money just waffles and beans, and he got sick of it.”

Dennison started 48 games for Woodham’s side last season according the Windsor FC website keeping 7 clean sheets.

Rebuilding

The goalkeeper joins a club undergoing a major rebuilding phase after a large proportion of the record breaking Ascot side left for pastures new over the summer.

Dennison may be in contention for Saturday afternoon’s visit of a Hayes & Yeading under 21 side, while Windsor host Bracknell Town at Stag Meadow.

Slightly off the cuff, but Dennison might just be on the move to a club with a kit that is slightly easier on the eye..
