Gavin Smith tweets Bracknell Town ‘goodbye’

Bracknell Town midfielder Gavin Smith has tweeted a ‘goodbye’ to the club from his social media account.

The former Godalming Town midfielder was in his second spell with the Robins after being a key player under former manager Alan Taylor in the 2000s and joined in December after a two game spell at neighbours Ascot United.

On leaving Bracknell the first time around Smith played for former team mates Neil Baker and Jon Underwood at Godalming Town and was part of the promotion winning side at Windsor & Eton in 2010.

Smith – who made eight first team appearances and scored three goals this season tweeted: ‘Leaving Bracknell Town and the Lane this time around is a bit harder than before, a good club going places.’

The former Robin made a goalscoring return to Larges Lane in December, scoring an extra time winner as Bracknell beat Hook Norton 3-1 in the Hellenic League Floodlit Cup.

Smith was part of the famous Bracknell side that brought then Conference Barnet to Larges Lane in fourth qualifying round of the 2003/04 FA Cup.
