What is there to say about the Caversham Cup at the weekend that hasn’t already been posted online (especially as we couldn’t get across owing to a clash with a dinosaur themed beer festival on a 19th century warship).

So here at Football in Berkshire we thought we’d try to round up the day which saw teams from across the UK compete for a title in Burghfield in Reading, all in aid of the registered charity Balls To Cancer.

Organised by Reading & District Sunday League side Caversham United, the club used its social media heft to get hold of some amazing raffle prizes and attract teams from as far afield as London, Telford and Wolverhampton.

Here it is then, the 2019 Caversham Cup in numbers:

15

Teams competed in the competition: Stacey Bushes, Loxwood Park Rangers, Hurst Reserves, Reading United, Calcot, Harchester Hawks, Caversham United, Hashtag United, El Valiente, Britannia, Watlington Town, Park Rangers, Iver Heath, Rectory Rovers, Bilbrook Spartans and White Horse.

38

Matches across the day. That averages out at 1.583333333333333 matches per hour on Saturday which is great value (we said this would be in numbers).

147

Goals scored in 38 matches. That’s 3.868421052631579 goals per match exactly.

30,999

Steps completed by this lad Paulo

150

Programmes printed.

2

Celebrity endorsements (that we’ve spotted so far) including former X Factor finalist Danyl Johnson..

And BBC Radio Berkshire presenter Anoushka Williams.

(Over) 50

Raffle prizes including some of these amazing shirts. If there’s not picture evidence of these being worn at the next training session, what was the point?

SO MANY MILES

Travelled by visiting teams. A three hour journey for Telford side Park Rangers and one visitor from Galway in Ireland.

1

Kit of the day. Safe to say the butler did it.

2

Winners, Hashtag United who won the Caversham Cup and GOAT Milk Cup champions Caversham United. We aren’t totally sure what the GOAT Milk Cup is, but images suggest it’s a cup filled with goats milk.

Finally, 850.13.

The amount of money raised on JustGiving for Balls To Cancer. It would appear there is still time to donate and get that number up to the magic £1,000 mark. We understand the actual number is yet to be revealed.

Congratulations to everyone involved in the competition, it looked brilliant fun. Do it all again next year?
