The opening day of the season across the country and we’re back to it on social media with plenty of excited – in the morning at least – followed by either elation or dejection at 4.45pm.

Here’s our picks of the week, including this from Hellenic League Premier Division side Longlevens AFC who, after last seasons relegation battle we’re very happy to indulge!

It was a similar story for Maidenhead United who were a 12.30 kick off at Stockport County on Saturday. The Magpies won 1-0 and were briefly top of the whole of the non league pyramid.

The away fans certainly made themselves heard (live on BT Sport!)

Sin bins of course are a ‘thing’ now. While we aren’t aware of it in use locally, it looks like East Berks and Bracknell Sunday League side AFC Crowthorne have opened a book..

There’s the possibility we might include ONE Football League tweet on occasion, and since this one involves food it’s happening. BBC Radio Berkshire’s Ady Williams was sampling the delights of the new street food market at Reading and the Madejski Stadium on Saturday. Just a shame about the result. (Editors note, we’ve since learned it wasn’t the street food at the Madejski Ady was chomping, but there IS now street food at the Madejski).

AND FINALLY, the responses have done all the work for us here, but the haunted look on chairman Tony Dean’s face as he gives away a free drink is priceless at Sandhurst Town.
