Following an email to club members and also an advert in the Bracknell News, Berks County FC have secured a major new sponsor in the form of Digitavia.

Berks County – who are a registered charity – play at the John Nike Stadium (Bracknell Sports Centre) in the Thames Valley League Premier Division which is step seven of the non-league pyramid – previous league members include Ascot United and Highmoor-IBIS.

With the support of audio-visual firm Digitavia, Berks County FC Co-Chairman Richard Lloyd hopes they can expand the number of teams and also increase football participation for girls at their currently under subscribed girls’ football centre.

Why did the club need a sponsor?

As reported in February by the Bracknell News (can’t find the article online unfortunately) the clubs sponsor Blue Qube Construction shut its doors and withdrew £2,000 of vital funding.

Even more galling for Lloyd was the knowledge that the club had had all their kit printed with the businesses branding – meaning any new sponsor would have to cough up for MORE new kit.

“I think they are going to be shocked that a company would support a charity and then pull out without any prior notice”

Lloyd was quoted as saying: “It will certainly be a lot harder to run the club, the agreement was signed for two years last summer and we have bought two years worth of kit with the Blue Qube logo on it.

“We haven’t spoken to the rest of the club yet, I think they are going to be shocked that a company would support a charity and then pull out without any prior notice.”

Thankfully for the club – who are expecting to move to a new facility in the summer found a willing supporter in the form of Daryl Clarke and his company, Digitavia.

Clarke said: “My son plays for one of the teams and he loves it. They do such a great job there, they sent round an email asking for sponsors and I also saw the Bracknell News article and I thought, why not?”
