Bracknell Town host their first game at their temporary Bottom Meadow home in Sandhurst this evening when Highmoor-IBIS are the visitors in the Uhlsport Hellenic Premier League (ko 7.45pm).

We thought that we’d put together a little guide for anyone heading across to the game. While Bottom Meadow is local to Bracknell, it isn’t necessarily a ground that Bracknell and Highmoor supporters will be completely familiar with given they have only just switched to the Hellenic League from the Combined Counties.

Where is it?

Sandhurst Town FC, Yorktown Road, Sandhurst GU47 9BJ

The Fizzers ground, Bottom Meadow is part of Sandhurst Memorial Park but the pitch itself is located behind a row of trees and isn’t visible from the main road.

The entrance to the ground looks a little like this..

See that low gate to the left of the coffee hut? That’s the entrance down to the ground.

Parking

There is very limited parking within the bounds of the ground as we discovered when we went with Bracknell Town Ladies at the end of last season.

Next door to the ground is the Community Centre with a public car park which costs £2.10 for three hours, however this might be busy depending what is going on.

Other modes of transport

Sandhurst Railway station is a 12 minute walk from the ground. Anyone coming from Bracknell would need to change at Wokingham, while from Reading it is a direct train.

Additionally, the 194 bus goes direct to Sandhurst from Bracknell bus station.

Facilities on site

There is a small but sufficient bar on site and plenty of room around the ground for the younger supporters.

The one thing to remember from our previous visits in pre season friendlies at this time of year, PACK MOSQUITO SPRAY!

Eating and drinking

The White Swan and The Village Inn are a short walk up from the ground toward Sandhurst station. The Swan is on Swan Lane which is off Yorktown Road while the Village Inn is on the corner of Yorktown and Crowthorne Road.

In the opposite direction is the Wellington Arms and Beefeater Grill.

Editors note: Please check with pubs first to ensure they are still open. It has admittedly been a long time since we’ve been for a drink in Sandhurst!
