On Saturday 9th June 2018 a new club for Reading, Berkshire was born.

The name is a rebrand of Highmoor Ibis Football Club with the stated aim of becoming Reading’s chosen non league club.

Highmoor as a club were over 50 years old and had worked their way up from the Thames Valley Premier League (then Reading Senior League) to the Hellenic League which they have been members of since 2011.

Future

As it stands there is no news on Reading City’s colours, badge or identity but we do know who will manage the team.

Andy Findlay and Rob Creech are the two men with the responsibility of carving out the clubs future and have plenty of experience from managing Henley Town and Bracknell Town’s development team.

Past

Highmoor Ibis was formed out of a merger of Highmoor and IBIS football clubs in 2001 according to FCHD and entered the Reading Senior League the same year.

The club didn’t finish outside the top 6 in that time, twice finishing runners up and winning it in 2004 and 2011, the latter title success allowing them to earn promotion to the Hellenic League and move to Palmer Park Sports Stadium.

In their first Hellenic League season they finished second in Division 1 East behind Newbury, earning promotion to the Premier Division where they have been ever since.

In 2016 the club took over the defunct Reading Town’s ground at Scours Lane.
