Non-league clubs across the country learned the leagues they would be placed in for the 2019/2020 season in the Non League Paper on Sunday morning.

Ascot United were one of the clubs to learn they would be facing a whole array of new clubs after their move from the Hellenic League to the Combined Counties League.

After promotion from the Reading League in 2006/07 Ascot United have been members of the Hellenic League. Over the years they’ve racked up many miles west up the M4 travelling to Gloucestershire and beyond.

Next season the Yellamen will find themselves with many shorter trips to west London and its environs,

Jamie Tomkins, Ascot United manager has already tweeted about the move, and he appears to be pleased with it.

Ascot United will face two teams that are well known to Bracknell Town in Egham Town and Molesey. Both were relegated from the Isthmian League South Central last season.

The Yellamen will also get a chance to play at Woking FC’s Kingfield Stadium, where newly promoted Sheerwater are currently groudsharing.

Ascot United will not miss the travelling required in the Hellenic League, but will likely miss their local derbies against Binfield and Windsor. These will be replaced with local fixtures against Egham and Camberley next season.
