Binfield and Reading City discover their 2019/20 league opponents

The Non League Paper revealed the league constitutions from Step 1 to Step 6 on Sunday morning and Binfield and Reading City have learned who they will play in the 2019/2020 Hellenic League Premier season.

Binfield and Reading City will say goodbye to local rivals Ascot United but will retain their local derbies against Windsor and Virginia Water.

The loss of Ascot United to pastures new isn’t helped by them being replaced by Chipping Sodbury and Westfields.

Chipping Sodbury Town were in the Western Premier Division last season and finished in 10th. It is near Bristol and is 79 miles from Binfield. Chipping Sodbury Town will be well known to Reading City fans as they knocked City out of the FA Cup last season after a replay.

Westfields were a Midlands Premier Division club last season and finished in a very creditable 4th place. The only record we can find of them playing a club local to us is their 3-1 loss to Wokingham Town in the 1997/1998 FA Cup. Westfields FC is 110 miles from Binfield, making it 10 miles longer than the trip to Lydney.

With Westfield in Bracknell’s division and Westfields in Binfield’s league it’s going to be an interesting season for us on this website. We will also tryour best to not call Chipping Sodbury “Chopping Sudbury”!

Overall, the Hellenic League looks like a very even league. Unlike the Combined Counties Premier, no clubs have been relegated into the Hellenic League Premier Division. Another interesting season awaits.
