The big list of Berkshire’s longest serving managers has been updated, and while there have been a number of changes in the list, the overall number one is the same as it was this time last year.

There are a number of bosses with solid tenures under their belts but we also saw a couple of big changes as Roger Herridge departed Binfield after six years and Danny Robinson swapped Thatcham Town for Hungerford Town after a silverware laden spell in charge.

The list below looks at full dates of appointment where available, and where they were initially in joint manager roles, looks for the moment they became sole boss. For the purposes of this list we’ve looked at step 1 down to step 6 of the English Football Pyramid. Number in brackets shows the position when we published the list last in 2019. Take it away!

Now in their 7th season in charge of Slough Town, having been appointed on Tuesday 28th May 2013, Neil Baker and Jon Underwood have overseen the Rebels rise from step 4 to step 2. Listen to Bakes and Unders discuss their playing careers. It’s not often when a chairman says he hope the managers will bring back the glory days, that they are quite so emphatically right. The pair have now been in management together for 500 matches.

2. Maidenhead United – Alan Devonshire (-)

Dev’s second spell in charge of Maidenhead United began in May 2015 and it’s been a pretty successful ride so far with a Vanarama National League South Championship and more than three seasons at the top table of the non league pyramid. Listen to Steve Jinman chat about Dev’s first spell in charge.

3. Ascot United – Jamie Tompkins (4)
