After a very positive display on a damp afternoon at Larges Lane, Bracknell Town came away with the feeling of disappointment after losing 2-0 to a very solid and experienced Abingdon United writes Matt Turner who spoke to first team boss Keith Penicott-Bowen after the game.

Q. How do you reflect on that performance today?

“It was a good game it just feels like a force field is around the goal at the moment. I keep telling the guy’s that once we get the first goal we will get an adrenaline rush. Then we can go and get a second one. I would be worried if we weren’t creating the chances but we are creating chance after chance, maybe even 5 or 6 chances a half. If we turned up and didn’t create any then I would be worried. I have got real belief in the guys in that dressing room.”

Q. After today’s result that makes it only 1 point in 4 games what’s your thoughts on this?

“It’s not in my thoughts. I have got massive belief we have got another 12 games left this season.”

Q. With 12 league games left what are your expectations for the rest of season?

“We have got a hell of a run of games coming up. We have got Binfield next week. The guy’s can test themselves against the teams that are aspiring to win this league. That’s what we are aiming for, that’s our next step. I have got massive belief in the team. The league table never lies. We are sitting 9th in the table and last year we finished 13th. If we can finish anywhere above that then it is progression. we have got a young team and a local team that all want to play for Bracknell Town Football Club.”

Q. Going forward to next week you have Binfield how do you prepare for that?

“It will be a challenge and a big challenge. They have a good team and a very good set of players who are very experienced at this level for maybe 9 to 10 years. I have a team of players who are only in their second season of Hellenic League Football. I need to get my players to learn how to play at this level. If we get anything from the game that’s a bonus. I am going there for the win and for the challenge.”

Matt’s verdict: The feeling I am left with after the interview, is not one of negativity after a loss, but one of excitement, enthusiasm and positivity to go forward. This in turn will push the team to continue in doing well. Playing great football and creating lots of chances but getting the results they deserve.

All I can say is I hope that the chances the team are creating get converted into wins. Lets see if the Robins can get some goals in the back of the net and cause a few upsets with the big teams at the top end of the table.
