Binfield struck first through Gary Smith in the B3018 derby at Larges Lane on Saturday but it was a second half blitz from Bracknell Town that earned the Robins a 6-1 win and a second six goal haul in two fixtures.

We spoke to both managers after the game with Roger Herridge the Binfield boss in reflective mood.

Herridge said: “For an hour I thought we were excellent , we looked organised and hard to break down . The only disappointment was the chances we missed.

“The last half hour was hard to take, the first penalty awarded was harsh but from then on we made poor decisions and got punished. Bracknell are a good side but the scoreline flatters flattered them.

“We obviously have areas where we need to improve. I have signed a forward who was with us for a few games pre season, Alex Colvert and we also have a 7 dayer in for player currently with another Hellenic League club.”

In the opposition dugout, Mark Tallentire was a relieved man after seeing his side come from behind.

He said: “We were lacklustre and didn’t start well which set tone for first half and on another day Binfield were unfortunate not to add to their solitary goal.

“At half time we had a sort out, we were to comfortable and weren’t taking any risks or asking questions. We needed a quicker tempo and to move the ball forward  quicker but Binfield were setup deep and it made it difficult, we needed to be patient.

On the penalties he said: “The referee had warned centre halves before penalty but I wasn’t in a good position to see.

“Once we score though we are pretty good at going for the throat, the game reminded me a little bit of the Winchester FA Cup game – we were good for 35 mins and went in 2-0 down but we new we could improve and we were prolific in front of goal.

“We were lackadaisical and lacklustre in the first half but they are the sort of games if you want to be at the top end of the table you have to win – it’s a compliment to my players because they showed so much desire and will to win in the second half so much chararcher and played really well.”

It was the second time Bracknell have scored six in two games, the previous time on Saturday at home to Woodley United. Tally said “We have got goals all over our team – similar thing on Saturday and we aren’t relying on any one person. Last season we were reliant on TJ Bohane and Adam Cornell but this season we have to rely on others and I’ve said to the players we need to up our goal rates from other parts of the pitch which is definitely happening.”
