Ahead of Tuesday nights Perpetua Press Floodlit Cup Final at Fairford Town, Football in Bracknell has spoken Binfield manager Roger Herridge and Ardley United boss Craig Adey.

Binfield go in to the tie looking to defend the title they won in 2018 while Ardley have had a solid first season back in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division after promotion from Division One West in the summer.

The two sides have met twice this season in home and away league fixtures with Binfield winning both, the opening day fixture finished 4-1 at the Nolan Oils Ground while it was a lot closer in the return at Hill Farm Lane in March.

Looking forward to the game Rog? Having seen you at a few cup finals now I know you won’t be getting ahead of yourself!

Very much so, no based on my tack record since being Binfield manager we definitely won’t be taking anything for granted. I have only won one out of six so not a good return.

A real chance to finish the season on a high though? Would you prefer this or another top 8 in the Hellenic?

Would have preferred a top six finish but it’s a chance to win some silverware and it’s not easy to do that at this level.

Is it a final every year you’ve been at Binfield though?

Yes it’s my seventh in five seasons I believe. I have a good collection of runners up medals!

They’ll be worth something one day.. what about Ardley then? They pushed you all the way in the last meeting in what was I thought a decent game.

They are a good side, capable of beating anyone on there day . They beat a very good Thame side in the Oxfordshire County Cup and lost narrowly to a Southern Premier side in the next round They are technically good and have good energy in the side.

Any team news for Binfield? Sean Moore obviously played 120 minutes past week but Bracknell also play on Tuesday.

We have a few selection dilemmas for sure. Ian Davies is out for the season, Idris Kamara has work commitments and Sean is most likely wanted by his parent club [Bracknell Town travel to Egham Town on Tuesday night].

Craig Adey – “We know how tough it will be against Binfield and Roger”

How are you setup for tomorrow? Looking forward to the game?

Yeah very much so. After a long season it’s always good to have a cup final so we can’t wait!

You’ve come up against Roger Herridge and Binfield a couple of times this season, I saw the last one, you pushed them very close that time.

Yeah we should have got something out of the game to be fair but the home game we got absolutely battered.

I was at both league games, I don’t get to do many home and away but that one was a bit of a mismatch..

..yes it seems a long long time ago though!

Been a long old season but you’ve got to grips with the league and seem to have gone from strength to strength

Yeah we’ve got a young squad. For the cup final we’ve got 18 players. only one who’s over the age of 23 – Troy Bryan – quite a few teenagers in that. With that of course you can expect inconsistency. The boys have done well though, it’s been up and down and we know how tough it will be against Binfield and Roger.

You had a guy at left back, the number 3, I think he played all across the back four that day.

Yeah Tom Griffiths, he’s 17. He’s one of our lads from our GPS Oxford partnership. He couldn’t get in to Abingdon United’s team, we signed him in November from their reserves and he’s probably one of my first names on the team sheet.

Having watched him I can certain;ly understand that.

Any team news for the final?

We’ve got a full squad other than Troy – he’s going to have a fitness test before the game but I don’t think he will be fit. Other than that we have a full squad.

Anyone you have your eye on at Binfield?

Rogers teams are very competitive, I know Ian Davies quite well, he’s always going to be a threat but yeah, they’re all decent.
