Wokingham & Emmbrook were the big winners in the Easter Monday Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 East fixture list with a 9-0 win at home to bottom side Wantage Town Reserves.

For Wantage it was a second 9-0 in three games, the third being a 10-0 defeat to Finchampstead in midweek and marks a sorry end to a season that see’s them without a point to their name and a -139 goal difference in addition to the fact they hadn’t scored a goal since the 31st December.

The Sumas duly made short work of the Alfredians second string who will likely drop in to Division 2 East with their first team returning to the Hellenic League following relegation from the Southern League in the summer.

It could have been much worse too, four goal Matt Booth missed a penalty with the score at 0-0 while the Sumas had two further goals ruled out for offside.

As well as Booth’s four the goals came from Elliott Rushforth (2), Dan Carter, Sam Lawrence and James Charlton.

Elsewhere AFC Aldermaston captain Dan Smith’s final game before retirement ended in defeat for the Atomics who were beaten 1-0 at Chalfont Wasps while Sandhurst Town earned a decent point at home to Bicester Town with a 0-0 draw at Bottom Meadow.
