It was reported in the local media on Monday night that Wokingham & Emmbrook first team managers Dan Bateman and Matt Eggleston are to stand down following the 2-1 loss to Binfield in the Reading Senior Cup quarter final.

Two sources including the Wokingham Paper and sports reporter Dave Wright tweeted the changes at Lowther Road on Monday night – and there has been a fair amount of response since the news broke.

The sources are also reporting that Reserve Team boss Clive McNelly is taking over first team affairs as the Sumas embark on a 2016/17 campaign in the Hellenic League Division 1 East.

Bateman and Eggleston led Wokingham to the Division 1 East title in 2014/15 and promotion back to the Premier Division, but they were unable to continue the momentum and the club return to the division after finishing bottom of the league with 13 points.

The changes have yet to be confirmed by the club.

More Wokingham & Emmbrook news here. We don’t think Clive will have to wash the kit anymore either.
