The Madejski Stadium final between Bracknell Town and Binfield signaled the end of the 2016/17 season. Now, only a few days later plans are being made for the start of the 17/18 football season with two friendlies confirmed by teams travelling to Larges Lane this summer.

Harrow Borough have included a game at Bracknell Town for Thursday 20th July in a pre-season fixture schedule that also includes games against Conference South Wealdstone and Championship side Cardiff City. Boro finished fourth bottom of the Isthmian Premier League last season and were only saved from relegation due to Worcester City’s request to move down the Football Pyramid. Despite Boro’s poor league form at the end of the season, they did make it to the First Round Proper of the FA Cup, going down 6-0 to League One side Northampton Town.

The second visitors confirmed to be travelling to Larges Lane this July are Southern League Premier club Basingstoke Town. The current manager of Basingstoke Terry Brown will be a familiar figure to many local to Bracknell as he once played for and managed Wokingham Town, though he is perhaps more well known for the wealth of experience gained at spells in charge of Hayes, Aldershot, Margate and AFC Wimbledon. Brown will take his Basingstoke side up the M3 for a friendly at Bracknell Town on Saturday 22nd July.

These two fixtures arranged against clubs in the football pyramid show the draw of the new 3G pitch at Larges Lane. When many clubs wish to let their pitches recover during the summer months Bracknell Town have the luxury of arranging fixtures throughout July.
