Combined Counties Division 1 side Eversley & California have confirmed that manager Phil Ruggles will continue in to a second season with the Boars.

Ruggles guided the Fox Lane side to a sixth place finish in 2016/17 – the fourth time in five seasons that Eversley have finished in Division 1’s top six, competed for the first time in the FA Vase and ongoing ground improvements mean a promotion challenge could be on the cards this coming season.

The club have confirmed that Ruggles will be assisted by Kris Hatton – a UEFA B Licence coach and Graham Purser, an FA Level 2 coach.

A statement on the website reads: “Kris comes to the club with vast experience as a coach and with local football knowledge while Graham again comes with masses of experience managing and also brings a great level of understanding of the local area.”

The first team has an added incentive to improve on the 2017 finish with improvements at Fox Lane meaning the club should be able to accept promotion to the Combined Counties Premier should they finish in the top two.

The Boars have had a turnstile block installed and are in the process of fully enclosing the ground to comply with step five ground grading.
