Woodley United have sent a full statement to FiB regarding the managerial change at the club.

Here it is in full:

Woodley United and manager Michael Herbert have mutually agreed to part company. Michael has been Woodley’s most successful ever manager after last season guiding the club to promotion to the Hellenic Premier and winning the Berks & Bucks Cup.

Woodley Chairman Colom Moon said: “It has been a fantastic privilege for us to have had Michael at the club and what he achieved last season was both unprecedented and unexpected. Not only did he take the club up in terms of our league standing but he also delivered higher standards in everything he did at the club. Whilst we are disappointed not to be able to continue this journey with Michael at the helm, we wish him nothing but the best for what I am sure will be a very bright future in the game.”

Michael Herbert said: “I have had a really enjoyable time at Woodley United and would like to say thank you to the club and especially the players and the management team for what has been a special past 18 months. Unfortunately mine and the clubs ambitions were not aligned and now seemed a good a time as any to let the club prosper with someone else in charge. I would like to take this opportunity to wish all at the club the very best for the future.”

Joining Michael in leaving the club is Spencer Meredith who the club would like to thank for all his hard work as part of the management team.

Following Michael Herbert’s departure the club have announced that Assistant Manager James Anderson has agreed to take over as manager.

Chairman Colom Moon continued: “We are delighted to have secured James as the First Team Manager going forward. James is a popular figure at the club and I am sure will continue to build on the good foundations that Michael has laid.”
