Uhlsport Hellenic Premier Division side Ascot United had a visit from Football Association chairman Greg Clarke on Saturday, with Mr Clarke on hand to see the Yellamen record only a fifth victory of the season against Fairford Town.

A report on the Ascot United website states: “Ascot United were delighted to welcome FA Chairman Greg Clarke to The Racecourse Ground on Saturday afternoon. Greg joined some of the directors for a buffet lunch and met a number of our volunteers including AGCs and Team Managers. He also spent time with the Fairford Town chairman and officials and met the match officials and team managers after the game.”

Clarke was on hand to see new Yellamen signing Ben Harris score a hat trick and fellow new boy Trevor Muntero his first for the club as Ascot were twice pegged back by Fairford before two second half Harris goals made the game safe.

The result moved Ascot up to 16th in the table and out of what can theoretically be called the relegation zone and means the Yellamen have now scored eight times in their last two matches with Harris scoring five of them.
