The reward for Binfield’s 3-0 win in the FA Cup against Buckland Athletic on Saturday is another home tie at Hill Farm Lane after the Second Qualifying Round draw was released on Monday afternoon.

The Moles advanced thanks to goals from young striker Eddie Lee and a double from Sean Moore but will be without centre back Jeff Brown who was shown a 77th minute red card against the Devon side.

Speaking about the draw, Football in Bracknell’s co-editor Darrell Freeland said in the FiB WhatsApp group: “The FA Cup is always conflicting. You want the biggest team possible (preferably at home) for the occasion.

“On the other hand you also want a winnable tie particularly with the increase in prize money that means Binfield have already banked £11,000 from three matches.

“Evo Stik Southern League Division 1 South side Cirencester have two wins, one draw, one loss from their four league games so far.

Football League sides

The Second Round draw threw up the brilliant possibility of FA Cup ties against former Football League sides with Torquay United the most likely in the South – as it in the full draw that away day will fall to Hellenic League side Lydney Town if they can get past Lymington Town.

There were also possible ties against two Berkshire sides in the draw for the first time this season with both Hungerford Town and Slough Town of the Vanarama National League South. The draw pitched the Hellenic’s Wantage Town away to the former and Sholing or Hamworthy United away to the latter.

Other former League sides in the draw included Kidderminster Harriers, Stockport County, Boston United and York City.

Road to the Second Qualifying Round

Cirencester started out a round later than Binfield this season owing to their step 4 status and beat Windsor 5-0 at home in the Preliminary Round before winning 7-0 at AFC Stoneham in the First Qualifying Round – the side that Binfield face in the FA Vase on Saturday.

Binfield themselves have won through three rounds starting at the Extra Preliminary stage when they beat Farnham Town 2-1, Brockenhurst 2-1 and Buckland 3-0. It’s the second time the Moles have reached this far in the competition since first entering in 2009.
