Ascot United pick up Hellenic League team award

It’s been a busy but effective start to the season for Ascot United and now the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division leaders have picked up the competitions monthly award.

The Yellamen have been named Hellenic League team of the month for September after playing nine fixtures which included an FA Vase tie, a County Cup tie and a League Cup tie.

Jamie Tompkins side won four of their six Hellenic Premier fixtures in that time and boast the division’s top scorer in Nathan Minhas who has 16 league goals and 20 overall for the season.

Ascot scored 12.71 points in the monthly league table which includes points earned with deductions for discipline including yellow and red cards.

In the Premier Division table on the Hellenic League website here, Tuffley Rovers were second with Ardley United second.

Of the Berkshire sides, Reading City were 7th, Windsor 11th, Binfield 12th and Virginia Water 13th.

The Division 1 East and West award was won by Easington Sports, Holyport were the highest placed Berks side in 14th, Wokingham & Emmbrook were 17th, AFC Aldermaston 18th and Woodley United 25th.

Wantage Town and Almondsbury won the award in August.
