Wallingford Town have been enjoying a strong start to the season on the pitch claiming 10 points from their opening 5 league games.

This week they gave supporters something to cheer about off the pitch too, as they announced that former AFC Aldermaston manager Kieran Jennings would be joining the club as First Team Coach. Manager Glenn Goudie had been tracking Jennings to join the set-up and support the management team.

On joining Wally, Jennings said: “I’m excited to be back in football at what is a really friendly club that has a good platform to be able to develop. There’s a really good atmosphere amongst the players and the staff and I hope I can offer something to assist the club.”

Football in Bracknell contacted Wallingford Town Chairman Simon Cowlard who had the following to say on Jennings’ appointment: “Kieran has a fantastic reputation within the level of football we operate and as a UEFA B coach, he will only enhance our management team and help our players get better both technically and tactically. He knows the local scene and players and will be a big asset to Glenn’s team.

“Glenn puts a lot of trust in his staff and you can see that he is building something special with the backroom team as well as they lads who represent the club on match days. Kieran will coach the 1st team and will help influence the structure of training for the reserve lads too. On gamedays, Kieran and Andy Silver will be the back-up support and the extra pair of eyes to help Glenn make decisions. We know Kieran enjoys watching other teams at our level and will pick up the scouting duties as a natural result of him attending games.

“The club have been busy recruiting management teams for both the 1st team and reserves and we feel the structure of the adult set up now, is excellent. Glenn conducted all of pre-season and the opening months of the season but felt it was getting harder to look objectively at players whilst they were training. He has been aware of Kieran’s situation for a few weeks and knew he was free. From the initial conversations, Glenn felt that Kieran would be a great addition to the set up and help push things to the next level and we are delighted to have him on board.”

Football in Bracknell wishes Kieran Jennings and Wallingford Town all the best for the rest of the season.
