Bracknell Town are relaunching a reserve team for the 2019/20 season at step 6 of the English Football Pyramid, subject to Football Association approval.

The Robins will join the Combined Counties League Division One alongside the likes of Eversley & California and Sandhurst Town, as well as the newly formed Channel Island side Jersey Bulls.

Chairman Kayne Steinborn-Busse said to Football in Bracknell: “The move has been approved by the Combined Counties League but will need to be confirmed by the FA.”

Bracknell are looking to have the first team, a reserve side and four under 18 teams competing next season, working toward eight for the 2020/21 season.

Mr Steinborn-Busse said the club had also made an application to join the Bostik League under 18 division. He said: “The Bostik side would become our under 18 A team, the Allied Counties our B team. The split will be our Academy second and third years with the third years in the Bostik team.”

When asked why the club had chosen the Combined Counties League over the Hellenic League, the Bracknell chairman said: “It’s purely geography. If you look at all our youth teams we’re kind of playing that geography. From our under 7s up to under 16s in the Surrey Youth League it’s all toward London and as a club we just want to be in a similar geography.”

Until the summer of 2018, Bracknell had competeted with a development side in the Suburban League managed by Andy Findlay and Rob Creech and had previously played in the Hellenic League Reserve League.
