Binfield Football Clubs development team are searching for a new manager after Ross Weatherstone stepped down from the role as manager.

Formerly manager of Thames Valley Premier League side Woodcote Stoke Row, Weatherstone took over in the summer of 2018 from Ellis Woods and led Suburban League Premier Division side to the Mike Bidmead League Cup final, beating Westfield Reserves 5-4 on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

A statement from Binfield Football Club says: “Ross Weatherstone has decided to step down from his role as the Manager of the Binfield FC Development side.  Ross joined the club last summer but now has decided to move on.

“The team has developed very well in the short period of time that Ross has worked with them by producing players to play in the first team and by winning the Mike Bidmead Trophy.  Ross has also been active in assisting in some first team games throughout the season and has been a strong supporter of the club.

“Ross’s work commitments with GPS have increased exponentially recently, and his full commitment next season needs to be with that task.

“Everyone at the club wishes Ross all the very best in the future.”

Binfield chairman Bob Bacon said: “Ross has been brilliant to have around.  As a coach, a mentor and the manager of the Development team he has had a positive impact.  Players have come through into the first team, which given the fact that he had to rebuild a team for last season was no mean achievement.  To win a trophy too was testimony to the work he did.  I wish him well as he continues his career.”
