The affect of floodlights going up at Wokingham & Emmbrook’s Lowther Road ground is already being felt with the club announcing the reforming of its Allied Counties Youth League side.
The Allied Counties is a midweek competition for players aged between 16 and 18. The Sumas last had an ACYL side back in 2013/14.
A statement from the club also confirmed that Nick Bovingdon would run the side.
It says: “‘Bov’ has a fantastic background and footballing experience, he is currently a School Director of Sport, taught Football at Reading Blue Coat and Holme Grange, coached at Crystal Palace and Reading, and has also been involved with Berkshire County Schools.
“Bov also has strong links with Wokingham having played for WEFC in his youth. He has also played for Finchampstead, Marlow and Cookham Dean as a senior.
“WEFC will be running trials for the Allied Counties squad at Montague Park 3G facility, William Heelas Way, Wokingham RG40 1GB from 1-3pm on Sunday 30 June.
Allied Football is a high standard midweek floodlit league for 16 to 18 year olds and offers an ideal pathway from Youth to Senior Football.”
