Bracknell Town supporters had been fearing the worst after new striker Lee Barney lasted just five minutes of the Robins pre season friendly against Maidenhead United nine days ago.

The former Hayes & Yeading United striker then missed Saturday’s match against Winchester City with rumours suggesting the forward may be out for the season.

Football in Berkshire though has spoken to Bracknell manager Sam Lock who has said that he doesn’t think the injury is as bad as first feared.

He said: “We are awaiting scan results for Lee. He limped off in the game with Maidenhead with knee complaint. We are hoping it is not as bad as first thought. I will update fans when we have any further details.”

Barney was the runner up in the race for the Isthmian League South Central Division One golden boot behind former Bracknell striker Liam Ferdinand who has now joined Hungerford Town.

The striker joined Bracknell in the summer and will compete for a place alongside Nathan Minhas, Shane Cooper-Clark and new signing Nicholas Bignall after helping Hayes & Yeading to the South Central title last season.
