Dan Roberts and Joe Grant handed Slough Town squad numbers

Roberts scored twice in the Rebels final pre season friendly on Saturday

Dan Roberts and Joe Grant handed Slough Town squad numbers

Reporting on squad numbers is a first for Football in Berkshire this summer but it’s one we’re delighted to be able to do given it encompasses two young stars we’ve watched grow in to Vanarama National League South players.

Dan Roberts and Joe Grant have both been handed squad numbers at Slough Town for the forthcoming season with Roberts taking the number 17 shirt and Grant 12.

Roberts had a breakthrough season with Windsor in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division last term having featured infrequently for Bracknell Town while Grant has starred for the Robins over the last few years winning trophies and plaudits along the way.

Grant signed for Slough after impressing in pre season friendlies a week ago while the Rebels announced Roberts signing on a one-year contract on Saturday, shortly after he scored both goals in the 2-1 win over Hartley Wintney.

Grant is currently out of action after suffering ligament damage in a pre season friendly – but he is expected to be out for around four weeks.

Quotes on the official Slough website about Robert’s signing say: “Robbo has come back really hungry and has impressed in every game, and whilst at the back of last season we discussed with him the potential of dual-signing him to a Step 3 side, we also said he would get the opportunity to earn a place in the squad during pre-season, and it is fair to say that if it was not for his suspension, he would be starting a week today against Dorking Wanderers.”

The suspension came about after Roberts was sent off in his final game for Windsor, the Hellenic League Challenge Cup Final defeat to Ascot United.

As well as Roberts, Slough have re-signed midfielder Scott Davies.
