Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division side Windsor have released a statement confirming plans to install an artificial surface at the clubs Stag Meadow ground.

Windsor founder Kevin Stott has revealed the club will work with Windsor FC Youth to develop the facilities at Stag Meadow, with the intention of making the ground the spiritual home for both clubs.

However, Mr Stott added that nothing would be able to go forward without what he called the clubs version of ‘Brexit’ – the long term lease – agreed with The Crown Estate.

He said: “The key thing is to get our equivalent of Brexit done – namely getting a long term lease with The Crown Estate over the line, which will then allow Windsor FC to commit to the substantial  financial funding and management time investment to facilitate the Stag Meadow redevelopment.”

Nearby Ascot United – another Crown Estate tenant – recently completed a redevelopment of their own site, including an artificial pitch within the grounds of Ascot Racecourse.

If successful, Windsor would be the fourth senior Berkshire side with an artificial surface after Ascot, Bracknell Town and neighbours Slough Town.

Artificial surface aim

On the tie up with the Youth club, Mr Stott said: “Windsor FC Youth already uses the facilities at Stag Meadow for meetings and social events on a no cost basis and one of their teams trains weekly on the grass training area.

“We would love to develop Stag Meadow such that both the main pitch and training area are converted to artificial grass, which would then allow Windsor FC Youth’s 40 plus teams to play and train at Stag Meadow.

“There is nothing we can’t achieve together if we are respectful of each other’s unique objectives and challenges, act with openness and most importantly integrity, in applying our collective abilities towards a common goal.”
