Woodley United announce new first team manager

Uhlsport Hellenic League Division One East side Woodley United have moved quickly to appoint a new first team manager following the departure of Jon Laugharne this week.

Laugharne stepped down after Saturday’s defeat to Wokingham & Emmbrook and the Kestrels have confirmed the appointment of Jamie Williams.

Williams was the clubs reserve team manager and steps up to be assisted by former captain Adam Barnard and Rachael Laws who was his reserve team assistant as well as the clubs goalkeeping coach.

A statement on the clubs website said: Woodley United FC is pleased to announce the appointment of Jamie Williams as 1st team manager. Jamie is currently the club’s Royals (Saturday Reserve) team manager and has considerable experience of coaching youth teams within the club.

Jamie will be assisted by Adam Barnard (until recently 1st team captain who has been forced to retire from playing this month due to injury) and Rachael Laws (who assisted Jamie with the Royals and provides coaching for the men’s goalkeepers).

In addition to her coaching roles at Woodley, Newcastle born Laws is also goalkeeper with FA WSL 1 side Reading FC Women having also turned out for Sunderland and Liverpool as well as receiving an England Lionesses call up in 2014.
