BetVictor Isthmian League South Central Division One side Bracknell Town will have a new chairman following Saturday’s match at home to Ware.

In a statement released to Football in Berkshire, chairman Kayne Steinborn-Busse revealed he was stepping down from the role at the club he has occupied since 2016.

Kayne has overseen a huge change in fortune for the Larges Lane, beginning with the appointment of manager Mark Tallentire that saw Bracknell challenge at the top of the Hellenic League Premier Division as well as lifting the clubs first silverware in nearly two decades.

More than anything though, the dramatic transformation of the much loved but run down Larges Lane ground into a modern football facility will undoubtedly be his legacy.

The full statement is below:

This Saturday 30th November will be my last day before I take some time away from the football club. I am not going very far, however, next week I have surgery planned that will keep me off work for the remainder of 2019 and into early 2020.

Between now and the end of this year whilst I am recovering Stephen Shortland will step in as part time interim CEO and Chairman.

Stephen will join us in January 2020 as CEO, at which point he will take control of the first and senior teams, International Academy and Domestic Academy program, the wider U18 to U6 Academy and Community programs.

Stephen joins us from Wellington College where his role was Director of Sport. Stephen’s appointment is a huge step for us as a club and will help to ensure, in the years to come, we are the premier destination for youth football/education, senior and first team football within the area.

I have really enjoyed the past four years working extremely hands on at the club, however, the time is now right to hand the day to day reins to someone who is far more qualified in player and athlete development than myself.
