Former Woodley United assistant manager Darren Purbrick has joined up with Uhlsport Hellenic League Division One East side Chalvey Sports.

Purbrick, who had been assistant to Jon Laugharne at Finchampstead and Woodley, departed the Kestrels in December along with Laugharne and has joined the Stabmonks to assist manager Matty Young.

The new assistant boss was in the dugout on Tuesday night as Chalvey weathered a first half Holyport storm to take all three points in an East Berkshire derby at Summerleaze.

Speaking to Football in Berkshire, Stabmonks boss Young said he delighted to have Purbrick’s experience alongside him. He said: “We had a few changes in the dugout this season and the one thing we were looking for was continuity.

“With this being my first management position I was looking for an experienced person to assist me, after meeting Darren it was clear to me he has passion, enthusiasm and knowledge, though most importantly, a personality that would compliment mine and the rest of the club. I’m very happy to have Darren with us.”
