Southern League Division One South side Thatcham Town have launched a monthly draw to help raise funds at the West Berkshire club.

The Kingfishers have had a busy close-season already, with a new manager appointed in Jamie Leacock following the departure of Danny Robinson as well as saying goodbye to several senior members of the playing squad.

The draw is part of a drive to raise funds for the club which has, like many non league clubs during the Coronavirus pandemic, not had any revenue from matchdays, venue hire and bookings.

The monthly draw, which is approaching 100 members is fully licensed by West Berkshire Council and for a £5 monthly entry, offers a prize fund made up of 40% of the months entry fees.

  • The prize fund made up of 40% of that month’s entry fees.
  • 10% will go towards an annual Christmas Draw to take place on top of that month’s draw (80/20 split) only eligible for those who placed at least one monthly entry up until and including the December draw.
  • The other 50% of weekly entry fees will go to supporting Thatcham Town Football Club.

According to Commercial Manager Ben Harte: “This was going to be launched in the new season but was decided to bring it forward to assist with ongoing costs despite the club not having any revenue from matchdays, venue hire and bookings.

“You can choose to pay by Monthly Standing Order (preferred) or cash or cheque with the latter in a bulk amount of months if at all possible.”
