Uhlsport Hellenic League Division One East Chalvey Sports have moved swiftly to appoint a new boss after it was revealed Matty Young was to step down.

In a statement, chairman Scott Young said his brother, Matty, was stepping down due to an increase in work commitments. You can read the full statement below.

Chalvey Sports FC have moved swiftly after manager Matty Young stepped down last week. Matty has recently started a new business and due to both that and being manager and coach of his own sons teams he was no longer able to commit to the levels that being at step 6 required. We would like to thank Matty for his hard work and dedication whilst being in charge for the last two seasons.

Matty will still be at the club and will be helping with off field activities helping myself with the running of the club alongside the other club committee members.

Darren Purbrick has now been named as first team manager and we are very happy to appoint Darren to this position. Darren has been a breath of fresh air since joining 18 months ago. His knowledge at this level, his coaching ability and enthusiasm is a massive bonus to the club and the continuity and stability that comes along with his appointment is very important. Chalvey Sports are a relatively new club at this level and Darren has bought into us as a club from day one and his experience will help us move forward.

Darrren will name his coaching set up as soon as it’s finalised and we are all hoping for a long and successful association with Darren leading the first team as well as working alongside Carl Feasey and Ivan Harper to give opportunities to some of our excellent young players from the development team.
