The regular season is done and dusted, now it’s on to the cups. Which is how this stuff usually works right?

No. But the season’s weather has been filthy so now we face a couple of rounds of cup games in a row as clubs battle on – a bit like you do during a marathon game of FIFA, barely stopping to refill your beer let alone take a toilet break.

As it is, Binfield host five times consecutive Reading Senior Cup champions Wokingham & Emmbrook in the quarter finals looking to return the favour after the Satsumas beat them in last seasons final at Madejski Stadium.

It’s by no means going to be straight forward..

Binfield have injuries, and lots of them

The Moles may have had a good win at the weekend against Longlevens but it came at a bit of a price.

Roger Herridge’s side have a lengthy injury list with Jack Broome, Liam Ferdinand, Carl Withers and goalkeeper Nathan Silver (pictured above) all out injured while long term absentee Jemel Johnson won’t be back this season.

Oh and Herridge has Mark O’Connell cup tied.

The Moles boss is expecting to promote a number of players from Ellis Woods Development side for tonights game.

Wokingham’s league form won’t affect their performance

The Satsumas may have finished rock bottom of the Uhlsport Hellenic Premier League this season, but as we’ve mentioned they are going for a sixth straight Reading Senior Cup title this season.

You can bet your bottom dollar the Sumas will be up for the tie tonight against Binfield despite finishing a full 49 points behind the Moles.

Jake Butler is expected to play in a protective mask after going off injured against Ardley United.

Highmoor-IBIS beckon for the winners

Whoever comes out on top this evening will face the inconsistent Highmoor-IBIS in the semi-finals.

After finishing runners-up in the league last year, the Palmer Park side will finish outside the top 10 this time round and were held to a 0-0 draw in their last fixture – they still have one game to go!

When the semi-final will be played is anyone’s guess, but probably about 25 minutes after the quarter final has finished the way things are going.
