Bracknell Town FC and Binfield FC are both on the road at the weekend in the first round of the Bluefin Sports Hellenic League Challenge Cup.

The first round is rather confusingly spread over a month with Woodley United not scheduled until the end of the month, and Wokingham & Emmbrook kicking off at the start of October.

Ascot United have a bye to the second round of the tournament, but they have a much bigger cup tie on Sunday anyway in the FA Cup when Ryman Premier side Tonbridge Angels visit.

Here’s the League Cup ties you need to know about – please be aware games starting earlier than usual:

Milton Keynes Academy vs Binfield (2.30pm)

It’s difficult to know what to expect from this one. Binfield boss Roger Herridge has seen his side off to a flyer this season but has suffered a number of injuries which has given the Moles a handicap.

MK are a side representing Milton Keynes College and are currently second in the Hellenic League Division 2 East.

Burnham vs Bracknell Town (3pm)

The last time these two sides met (as far as we can remember) was back in 2008 and it was a disaster for Bracknell. A report from that game is here – but it’s not for the squeamish.

Times have changed though and you would expect Bracknell to quietly avenge that result, though it remains to be seen as to whether Mark Tallentire gives match time to his wider squad with Ben Poyner having featured off the bench in recent weeks.

Headington Amateur’s vs Finchampstead (2.30pm)

If you are looking for a competitive game at the weekend, and you are prepared to brave a drive down the A34/M40 then this could be the one.

Amateurs are steadfastly refusing to live up to their name and sit second in Division 1 East while Finch are looking to kick start a season dented by a 3-0 defeat to champions Penn & Tylers Green on Monday.

Lynch Pin vs AFC Aldermaston (2.30pm)

Most weeks it is a trip into the unknown for Aldermaston in their debut Hellenic League season, and this week is no different with a trip to former East Berks League side and Division 2 East Lynch Pin.

This trip to Slough should see Alders progress particularly if striker Pete Wareing can continue finding the net.

There are also two Hellenic Premier Division ties over the weekend. Full fixtures for all clubs here.
