It’s a busy weekend of Hellenic Premier League action once again while there are just two Division 1 East ties – the rest of our featured sides are involved in Berks & Bucks County Cup action.

Here’s what to expect from the weekend’s action:

Reports of Binfield’s demise exaggerated

A comment-er on the unofficial Hellenic League forum asked: ‘Anything to worry about at Binfield after they lost their 3rd game in a row this weekend?’

The Moles sit fifth in the Hellenic Premier League with seven wins and four defeats from 11 games. There have been three defeats in a row but one of those was in the FA Vase – and Roger Herridge’s side have games in hand over three of the four sides above them in the league.

A win at home to struggling Brimscombe & Thrupp on Saturday could see the Moles finish the day in second – Herridge’s biggest concern will be avoiding a repeat of the performance that saw them lose at home to Brackley Town Saints last Saturday.

IF Bracknell Town harbour title ambitions, it starts in Gloucestershire

Cup concerns have kept Bracknell Town busy in the early part of the season, but they have shown the ambition with a TJ Bohane/Adam Cornell striker force that winning the league is a priority for Mark Tallentire’s men.

They are six games behind leaders Thatcham Town at this point, but an away win at Longlevens on Saturday would signal a real statement of intent – and what a way to christen the newly redeveloped Larges Lane than with a trophy in it’s first season after a trophy drought that has lasted decades.

Can Wokingham & Emmbrook make the most of promising cup form?

Last week we suggested that the Satsuma’s had a ‘tough tie’ at home to Premier Division Ardley United in the cup. Then we saw they were 3-2 up at half time.

Despite ending in a 4-3 defeat this was a terrific statement by Clive McNelly’s side who featured three new signings including Tom Williams from Binfield who got himself on the scoresheet.

McNelly will now want to see his side build on that positive performance at home to Chinnor on a day when a win could see them move up to mid-table with only one other Division 1 East game scheduled.
