Bracknell Town host Thame United on what is expected to be a busy night at Bottom Meadow in Sandhurst, the Robins temporary home for an eagerly anticipated Uhlsport Hellenic Premier League clash (ko 7.34pm).

Here’s what to expect as the Robins and United go head to head for the first time this season. And if you want to check it, here’s the Premier Division table.

Goalscorers everywhere

Andrew Gledhill, Lynton Goss, Adam Cornell and TJ Bohane.

Four names that will strike terror into the heart of any Hellenic Premier League defender – and they all play for either Bracknell Town or Thame United.

Between the four they have 62 goals this season – that’s 10.14% of ALL Hellenic Premier goals scored this season, of which there have been 611 at the time of writing.

Bracknell is a meaner defence than you think

A quick glance at the Hellenic Premier League table shows that Bracknell have conceded the least goals in the division this season with Chris Grace being beaten on 17 occasions – for comparison Burnham have conceded 81.

But then you look at games played and you’d think that it was no surprise given that the Robins have also played the fewest games.

But you’d be wrong..

Yes we did the maths. On a goals conceded league game ratio, Bracknell are second to Flackwell Heath in the table (1.31 goals per game) meaning they have on average the second meanest defence in the league – of course none of that really matters when the game is being played but it’s a nice stat nonetheless.

Thame incidentally are fifth conceding 1.53 goals per game.

Thame can go top and stay there

It’s a cliche to say it’s points on the board that matter, but as our mate James Rees over at Oxon Football points out, in this case it really doesn’t matter.

United are a point behind leaders Thatcham with four games in hand – they already lead third placed Flackwell by four points and have two games in hand on them.

For Bracknell – even in November this game is pivotal to their title chances, but for Thame a win (and they haven’t lost yet in the league) would send them top and it’s hard to see anyone catching them.

Also the free entry..

It’d be rude not to point out tonight’s game is free entry, as is Thatcham Town on Saturday. Both at Bottom Meadown. Details here.
