Our sole local Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division fixture sees Bracknell Town face Burnham for the fourth time this season when they meet at Larges Lane for the first time this season.

The visitors may be bottom of the table but has improved since a poor start to the season so should not be underestimated.

Manager Mark Tallentire hopes to welcome TJ Bohane back into the squad and with table toppers Thame United in action Boxing Day but not New Year’s Eve, the Robins will finish 2016 in first place with victory over Burnham and away at Highmoor Ibis on New Year’s Eve.

Binfield and Ascot United meet each other at 7.45pm on Tuesday 27th December and we’ll preview that one separately.

In Division One East, Finchampstead host Wokingham & Emmbrook in a tasty looking local derby with Sandhurst Town and Woodley United both at home and AFC Aldermaston on their travels.

Finch

It’s a 2pm kick-off at the Memorial Ground with seventh place Finch and tenth place Sumas looking to take the local bragging rights.

Both sides have arguably not faired quite as well as expected but both teams have some quality players and we expect a real cracker here.

Midday

If you want an early football fix then head over to Sandhurst for midday when they welcome Holyport to Bottom Meadow. With only place in the table separating the sides, it could be another close encounter but we reckon the Fizzers will come out on top.

Woodley are home to Didcot Town Reserves looking to keep pace with leaders Penn & Tylers Green.

United are only five points behind P&T but have three matches in hand so will be confident of going top, and with only one defeat all season we expect them to have too much firepower for Didcot.

They might be away but on paper at least the easiest fixture is Wantage Town Reserves vs. Aldermaston.

With the home side bottom and yet to record a single point, the Atomics will be expect to clinch the three points which would move them up to third place with Headington Amateurs not in action.

In fact, only one point is required to move above Amateurs and with Kai Parton-Edey in the goals, we won’t bet against them.

Tom doesn’t like the nickname ‘The Atomics’ for Aldermaston and wants them to be called ‘The Isotopes’ like in The Simpsons but we’ll include that in our 2017 New Year’s resolutions article in due course.

The full Boxing Day fixtures are:

  • Bracknell Town v Burnham
  • Finchampstead v Wokingham & Emmbrook 2pm
  • Sandhurst Town v Holyport 12pm
  • Wantage Town Reserves v AFC Aldermaston
  • Woodley United v Didcot Town Reserves

All kick-offs 3pm unless noted otherwise.

Those souls feeling brave could take in some of the Sandhurst match followed by Finchampstead vs. Wokingham & Emmbrook and could end up at either Bracknell or Woodley to get a treble football fix.
