The weekend’s football programme is very weather dependant but currently very much on! There’s the intrigue of Finchampstead joining the promotion fight with a win, Bracknell Town’s continued chase for the title and a day of firsts for Ascot United in the cup.

Bluefin Sport Hellenic League Supplementary Cup

It’s very much ‘in with the new’ at Ascot United on Saturday as Neil Richards takes charge of his first match in charge of the Yellamen when they visit Chalfont Wasps in the first round of the Supplementary Cup (ko 1.30pm).

Richards announced his backroom team during the week but it’s now a case of ‘wait and see’ what United will be, especially as several players have joined team mate Jon Palmer at the Burnham revolution.

Uhlsport Hellenic Premier League

Adam Cornell should return for Bracknell Town to lead the line with TJ Bohane on Saturday as they host Lydney Town on Double Gloucester Saturday at Larges Lane.

With 11 games to go, it’s tight at the top of the division with one point separating Mark Tallentire’s side and second placed Thame United who visit stuggling Henley Town.

Binfield have a relatively short trip across Berkshire to fourth place Thatcham Town with a run of two defeats to put behind them.

Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 East

Woodley United have a promotion challenge to get back on track when they host an in-form Finchampstead at Scours Lane .

United won 5-0 to reach the County Cup semi-finals last weekend but have been beaten in their last two league matches while Finch came from behind with a bare XI to beat AFC Aldermaston.

The two sides have met what feels like every other week this season but is in reality only twice – and a first win for Finch would put them right in the race for the top two.

Wokingham & Emmbrook are back in action for the first time since New Year’s Eve when the visit Headington Amateur’s while Sandhurst Town are on the road to Rayners Lane and AFC Aldermaston pay a visit to Chinnor.
