Midweek: Reading Senior Cup for Binfield and league test for Woodley United

Two midweek games of note involving Uhlsport Hellenic Football League this week as Binfield head to Holyport in the Reading Senior Cup and Woodley United head to Bicester Town in Division 1 East.

Holyport setup the second round Reading Senior Cup tie with Binfield after beating Berks County in extra time at the beginning of February, while the Moles had a bye but go into the fixture with several injury concerns in key areas.

Manager Roger Herridge has stated that he will be without defenders Alex Luis and Gary Smith while Luke Hayden and Sean Moore look set to miss out on Tuesday night.

Luis suffered a heavy challenge in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Tuffley Rovers and was escorted from the pitch, but Herridge said the injury doesn’t appear to be as serious as first feared.

The Moles have been losing finalists in the last two Reading Senior Cup Finals, losing out to Wokingham & Emmbrook and then Henley Town last season – something we are certain Herridge will want to put right.

In Division 1 East Woodley United will go second with a win at Bicester Town on Wednesday night and may well have striker Charlie Oakley after the Kestrels top scorer returned to action on Saturday from the substitutes bench in the 2-1 win at Sandhurst Town.

United saw their new signing Matt Jones score his first goal club in an important win and Michael Herbert’s side will be favourites going in to the tie with previously high-flying Bicester.
