Saturday marks a competition debut for AFC Aldermaston in the FA Vase when they host Romsey Town at the Rec Soc.

The Atom Men returned to the Hellenic League last season after 30 years away and Saturday marks their first appearance in any national FA competition.

Even the defeated side gets a share of the prize

In a departure from the FA Cup where the winners take all the glory, in the FA Vase even the losing side get a share of the spoils.

Don’t get to excited though, the losing side in the First Qualifying Round pocket £175 while the winners take £550. You can see how the prize fund is distributed here.

Why Bracknell Town have a by to the first round proper

Four Hellenic Premier Division clubs have received an exemption from the qualifying rounds. These sides are selected from the three in the league in the league that finished 2nd to 4th plus the relegated side from step 4 so this season that is Bracknell Town, Thatcham Town and Flackwell Heath along with relegated Wantage Town.

Thanks to the bye, Bracknell have already equalled last seasons performance when they lost to Croydon in the Firs Round Proper.

When is the Second Qualifying Round draw?

It’s already been drawn…
