This week’s Bracknell Town & District Sunday League Premier Division fixtures sees featured club Crowthorne Inn looking to make it two wins out of two as they again face a tough fixture, this time against last season’s Champions Finchampstead Athletic.

Following their opening day defeat to Crowthorne, FC Fernhill will look to get their season on track with a home fixture against Bracknell Cavaliers.

Cavs made an impressive start to life in the top division last season and led for much of the first half, tailing off during the second half of the season and will look to repeat their strong start again. Other fixtures see Premier Division newcomers Wokingham & Emmbrook TMW and Intercity battle it out.

Pick of Division 1 fixtures sees Berkshire All Stars, winners of the recent Goals Cup game (winning 2-0 against Binfield Royals) open up their league campaign with a home fixture against Finchampstead Athletic Reserves whilst fellow promotees WAB look to maintain their 100% start with a home fixture against Winkfield.

Top games in Division 2 sees relegated 3M, winners last time out, at home to Berks County and new team Athletico Ascot take on relegated Braybrooke Athletic.
An intriguing fixture in Division 3 sees Silver Birch, smarting from their opening day defeat last week to Woodley Saints, take on WAB Reserves.

The pick of the three Division 4 games sees Bracknell Cavaliers Reserves take on Finchampstead Athletic A, both winning their opening games last week.

Featured team – Crowthorne Inn

Having known each other for many years and having played together as kids, one of the Leagues newest teams was formed for the start of last season, taking Division 1 by storm by winning the league championship at the first hurdle.

For much of the season it looked as though Inn would go through their campaign unbeaten but for a wobble during the latter stages that saw teams playing 3 times in a week to complete fixtures that had been hit by weather in January and February.

Inn managed to stave off a strong challenge though from Wokingham & Emmbrook and Finchampstead and finished as champions with an impressive record of 16 wins and 3 draws from their 22 league games played, Liam Forde netting 29 goals.

As well as Forde, other players that impressed last season included Elliot Mitchell, youngest in the team, along with Fraser Scutton who swept the board at the teams presentation evening.

Not surprisingly the team is based out of Crowthorne Inn on Crowthorne High Street and have built up a considerable following from amongst the “locals”.

Asked about the teams ambitions for 2017/18 Secretary Marcus Simmonds stated that “to establish themselves as a Premier Division club” is their primary aim but, with confidence abounding following their opening day win against a strong FC Fernhill team, “the team feels that they can challenge strongly for the title”.

Crowthorne Inn are managed jointly by Martin Simmonds and Andy Russell and play their games at Great Hollands Recreation Ground.
