The battle for top spot in Division 2 looks set to ignite this weekend as Warfield (2nd on 7 points and off the back of an impressive 11-1 win last weekend) take on Athletico Ascot (top on 9 points and who will look to maintain their 100% start to the season). Elsewhere, Bracknell Athletic (this weeks featured club and 3rd on 6 points) travel to Newbold College whilst relegated 3M (4th on 4 points) entertain Bracknell Saint-Germain.

Due to County Cup fixtures there are no Division 3 fixtures this weekend and the only fixture in Division 4 sees Bracknell Cavaliers Reserves face FC Harmanswater.

Featured team – Bracknell Athletic

Athletic were formed in 2015 out of the former FC Bracknell men’s team and enter their third season of competition in the Bracknell Sunday League.

In their inaugural season (2015-16), Athletic finished impressively as runners-up in Division 3, 6 points behind Champions Bracknell Saint-Germain, securing promotion to Division 2. Chris Jeffries finished that season as the Divisions top scorer with a massive 40 goals. Last season saw a term of relative stability and finished in a creditable 6th position behind Binfield Royals, WAB and Berkshire All Stars, all winning promotion.

Early results this season (2 wins and a draw from 3 games) has shown that Athletic can push on and challenge for promotion from Division 2 if not top spot. Bracknell Athletic is managed by Chris Lancaster and play their games at Ringmead.
