Its County Cup football again this weekend as three teams represent the Bracknell Sunday League at the last 16 stage of the Berks & Bucks Sunday Junior Trophy. Hope & Anchor, Bracknell Corinthians and Woodley Saints will all look to emulate the feats of Whitegrove FC two seasons ago by making it through to the quarter-final stage and hopefully win the competition. Good luck to all three teams this Sunday.

Top billing this weekend in the Premier Division is the fixture between Finchampstead Athletic (4th) and current leaders Crowthorne Inn. Reigning Champions Finch have moved themselves into a position from which to challenge the top 3 with a recent run of good form and currently lie 9 points behind Inn but have 4 games in hand. Elsewhere its 2nd versus 3rd as William Twigg Vets take on in-form FC Meta in a game of equal importance at the summit. A win for Meta will move them above Twigg and keep them in contention for the title whereas a win for Twigg will put a buffer between them and the chasing pack. In other fixtures Morale Madrid take on Wokingham & Emmbrook TMW whilst Golden Farmer Rangers play Bracknell Cavaliers.

Raglan, in 4th position, will present top team in Division 1 WAB with another stern test this Sunday. WAB, on a phenominal run of form in the league and 13 points clear of nearest challengers Loveman United, will look to stretch even further ahead whilst a win for Raglan, off the back of County Cup success last weekend, will keep them in contention, trailing WAB by a massive 20 points but have 6 games in hand. Loveman United will look to put last weekend’s disappointing defeat to WAB behind them as they take on Sandhurst FFC whilst third placed team AFC Crowthorne play Hurricanes.

Division 2 sees the top go head-to-head as current leaders Woodley United take on unbeaten 2nd placed team Warfield United in a game of huge importance. The Division is becoming a two-horse race but both Athletico Ascot (3rd) and Berks County (4th) will try their upmost to stay within touching distance with games against Braybrooke Athletic and Ashridge Park Royals respectively.

With all eyes on the County Junior Trophy this weekend just two Division 3 games are to be played t as 5th placed Bearwood Wanderers take on Winnersh Town (9th) and in the other game Berkshire United, looking for their first points of the season, take on Winnersh Rangers (4th).

Competition at the top of Division 4 remains fierce as this weekend Bracknell Royals (3rd) take on Silver Birch A (top) whilst elsewhere Finchampstead Athletic A (2nd) take on 4th placed Crownwood Dukes. Could we see a change at the top come Sunday afternoon!?

FiB correspondent Tony Hardy predicts:

  • At least one Bracknell Sunday League team through to the quarter final stage in each of the County Intermediate, Junior Cup and Trophy Competitions
  • Honours even between Bracknell Royals and Silver Birch in Division 4
  • FC Meta and William Twigg to trade places in the Premier Division
  • All fixtures to beat the weather this weekend!!
