Weekend: Striker boost for Bracknell Town and FA Vase semi finals

Binfield can strengthen grip on a top 6 finish with a win over their nearest challengers

Weekend: Striker boost for Bracknell Town and FA Vase semi finals

It could have been very different but we’re sure all non league football supporters in Berkshire and the Hellenic League will be wishing Thatcham Town all the best as they host 1874 Northwich in the first leg of their FA Vase semi final at Waterside Park on Saturday.

The Kingfishers are the sole Berkshire and Hellenic representative left in the competition after the brilliant runs of Bracknell Town and Windsor ended in the quarter finals.

Talking of Bracknell who host Longlevens in the Hellenic League Premier Division, Carl Davies side will be boosted by the return of TJ Bohane who is back in the squad after missing out on Wednesday at Brackley Town Saints.

Davies gave an update on injuries to FiB and confirmed centre back Jesse Wilson is out for the season while Justin Clayton is a couple of weeks away. George Short will definitely miss Saturday as will Carl Withers who has completed is suspension but is away.

Davies added that Joe Grant would play on Saturday before competing in Sunday’s Reading Half Marathon on Sunday. The Robins boss said: “He’s a fit lad, it’s well in his capability!”

Binfield host Brimscombe & Thrupp at Hill Farm Lane but will be without Brad Pagliaroli who has departed this week while Woodley United’s battle for survival continues with a home tie against Tuffley Rovers at Scours Lane.

Virginia Water can move one step closer to promotion from Hellenic League Division 1 East if they can take three points off in form Holyport while Sandhurst Town still have an outside chance of crashing the top two but they’ll need to better Chalfont Wasps on Saturday.

As ever, please check with the host club before you travel. Links on the home teams indicate we have an away day guide available to help plan your trip.
