We start this week’s preview with a round-up of key games played in the Bracknell Town & District Sunday League on Thursday evening (5th April).

Significantly in Division 2, AFC Crowthorne achieved a 6-2 win against Ashridge Park Royals to keep their challenge for the title alive. That win keeps them in 4th position, 9 points behind leaders Woodley United but they have 4 games in hand. Elsewhere, in Division 3, Winnersh Rangers moved into 2nd place with a 2-2 draw against Silver Birch.

The one game to be played in the Premier Division this weekend sees 6th placed Morale Madrid play William Twigg Vets (3rd) who will look to keep their challenge for top spot alive with a win.

Top fixture in Division 1 sees a rejuvenated Finchampstead Athletic Reserves (4th) take on unbeaten Raglan (2nd). Following their splendid run in the County Junior Cup that has seen them progress to the Final, Raglan will now look to make ground on leaders WAB starting with this, their first of 5 games they have in hand over the leaders. Finch on the other hand will look to keep their recent good run of form and charge up the table going. Elsewhere in the Division 5th placed AFC Crowthorne take on Ashridge Park whilst Winkfield (6th) host Berkshire All Stars (7th).

With Woodley United’s game at 3M being postponed on Thursday evening, Warfield United could move back to the top of Division 2 this weekend with a win at Berks County. Elsewhere, 3rd placed Athletico Ascot visit Braybrooke Athletic whilst 4th placed AFC Crowthorne Reserves host Newbold College.

In Division 3 leaders Woodley Saints will look to stretch further clear at the top with a home fixture against Hope & Anchor whilst Winnersh Rangers (2nd) take on “neighbours” Winnersh Town.

Top of the bill in Division 4 sees Bracknell Royals (2nd) take on Silver Birch A (3rd). Elsewhere, leaders Finchampstead Athletic A play FC Harmanswater (6th). With so few games remaining now Finch might consider themselves favourites to lift the table but the chasing pack will have other ideas.

Cup News

Raglan’s opponents in the final of the Berks & Bucks Sunday Junior Cup have yet to be decided. AJ Victoria and Richfield Rovers play the remaining semi-final on Sunday 15th April. The date and venue for the Final has also yet to be announced by County FA.

Dates for the two Sunday League Senior Cup semi-finals (Wokingham & Emmbrook TMW v. FC Fernhill and Golden Farmer Rangers v. FC Meta) have yet to be scheduled.

FiB correspondent Tony Hardy predicts:

  • Finch to stretch their lead at the top of Division 4
  • Warfield United to regain top spot in Division 2
  • Raglan to maintain their unbeaten record in Division 1
