Following Monday night’s fantastic Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division derby between Binfield and Reading City, it’s the turn of Ascot United tonight as they host ninth place Holmer Green.

Victory for the Yellaman would see them definitely climb one place to fourth though they could go up to third depending on results elsewhere. The quirk of the fixture calendar means it is the second league encounter between the two sides in 21 days with Holmer Green narrowly prevailing 1-0 that night to inflict Ascot’s only league defeat this campaign.

Manager Jamie Tompkins will be hoping his side can rediscover their scoring touch with the last three matches seeing a goalless draw with Binfield sandwiched between exits from both of the FA Competitions with only one goal scored in those games.

Elsewhere it’s a return to Velocity Trophy action as Bostik League South Central Division leaders Bracknell Town welcome South Division Horsham to Larges Lane.

The league cup competition is always an opportunity for players to come in and stake claims to starting places which Adam Cornell did last round scoring all three goals in a draw with Kingstonian with the Robins winning on penalties and Cornell has remained in the starting eleven since that night.

The two teams haven’t met since the 2003-04 season with the last encounter in March of that season seeing the hosts Horsham run out comfortable 4-1 winners.

It wasn’t a good day for the Robins but it was even worse for TC who ended up some almost fifteen miles further away in Hayward’s Heath prior to Sat-Nav being commonplace though he just about made kick-off where we had a pint and lots of banter waiting for him.

All Saturday matches kick-off at 3pm, all Sunday matches kick-off at 2pm and all midweek matches kick-off at 7.45pm unless detailed next to the above fixtures. Please always check with the host club before you travel if you are in any doubt.
