FC Fernhill win in Senior Cup; AFC Crowthorne Reserves top Bracknell Sunday League Division 1

Congratulations to Bracknell Athletic Reserves and Woodley Saints who both progressed to the 2nd round of the Berks & Bucks Sunday Junior Trophy where they will join 8 other Bracknell Sunday League teams. Tie to be played on Sunday 21st October.

FC Fernhill got their defence of the League’s Advantage Printroom Senior Cup with an emphatic 6-2 win against Berks County. Fernhill’s goal-scorers were Lewis Burns (3), Tom Baddeley, Tom Skidmore and Ben Broadhurst. Other teams to progress through to the second round were Raglan, Loveman United and FC Meta.

In the League Junior Cup, Golden Farmer Rangers Reserves of Division 2 were made to fight all the way for their win against AFC Crowthorne Old Boys of Division 4, edging out by 3-2. On the scoresheet for the Farmer were George Hobden, Gabriel Urzi and Calvin Grainger. Others teams through to the next round following today’s 1st round ties are Silver Birch Dynamoes, Winnersh Town, Ashridge Park and Bracknell Cavaliers Reserves.

In the Premier Division Finchampstead Athletic closed to within 2 points of leaders Fernhill following their 5-2 win away at Crowthorne Inn. The other two games played in the division both finished in draws – Golden Farmer Rangers were beaten 3-2 by Athletico Forest while WAB and Morale Madrid drew 1-1. WAB’s goal was scored by Ryan McManus.

AFC Crowthorne Reserves moved to the top of Division 1, beating Winkfeld 4-0 with gals by Joao Jardim, Matt Jelley, Jason Ellary and Jim Mulholland. The day’s highest scoring game saw Wokingham & Emmbrook TMW take the spoils 6-5 against Panthers Reserves. In the division’s only other game played, newly promoted Athletico Ascot beat Woodley United 5-2 to leave Woodley still looking for their first points of the season.

In Division 2 Sandhurst FFC joined Woodley Saints and Silver Birch Dynamoes on 7 points at the top following their 4-0 win against promoted Bracknell Corinthians.

The top two in Division 3, Bearwood Wanderers and Braybrooke Athletic both maintained their 100% winning starts to the season with wins against Bracknell Royals (3-2) and Hope & Anchor (4-1) respectively. Braybrooke’s goal-scorers were Neil Blewitt (2), Mike Wyatt and Scott Higgs. Points were shared in the other game played between Running Horse and Silver Birch A (3-3).

The only game played in Division 4 resulted in a 4-1 win for Crownwood Dukes against Bracknell Titans. Crownwood moved clear at the top of the division with that win.
